How I create nature art using flow:
So, we’re down in Mexico for the winter, as usual, and I’ve started building clay forms to do my first pit-fire. I started 5 forms and scrapped 3 of them within this first week, but I’m totally ok with that. Why? Here’s the breakdown:
- I intended to start by making a vessel form with honeycomb texture on the outside.
- Out of nowhere, I made an interesting barnacle form instead.
- Then I tried forcing some vessels but I couldn’t stop thinking about the barnacle form.
- Finally, I scrapped 3 of the vessels and gave in to the flow of wanting to make barnacles. (The turning point was when I could see that if I kept making vessels, I would run out of clay and not have enough for the large barnacle sculpture I’d started envisioning.)
Moral of the story: When you follow the paths of flow, the actions you take will move you in the direction of awesome.
Sense of Flow is created by your subconscious to point you in the direction of your highest good. That Sense of Flow and inner ease is your inner compass (calibrated by a lifetime of experience in forming your own unique fingerprint of what is your ideal.)
So, start religiously following the lines of flow that appear in your life.
Stop worrying if “that’s not the right way” or if others will think you’re silly. They don’t know how to create your ideal life. If you strive to live someone else’s ideal life, you’ll be unhappy. Believe me, I’ve tried. More than once 😉
Like the organic process of creating amazing nature art, your inner compass will point the way toward your ideal life. Follow it!
Next week, as a private post for my Patreon patrons, I’ll be sharing how this piece is coming along (picture this, but times 10, at least that’s my plan!), and exactly why I’m making a barnacle sculpture. Teaser: It represents a universal principle of beauty as found in nature.
