Rusted Mustard, Umber Crumbling, Pink Mouse Grey, Mushroom, Ochre, Turmeric, |
Color is an interesting and complex animal. When we are small, we’re capable of spending hours staring at something and really looking at all sorts of little details. This fun childhood game is slowly lost to us until we look around one day and realize that we’ve gone and become adults accidentally. I challenge you to take a baby step backwards into childhood and reconsider Rust.
I imagine that if someone asked you what rust looked like, you’d answer that it was rust colored. A warm red. That is almost true. Let’s look at rust close up and really see all of the colors that can be in there. (I say CAN be in there because every single centimeter of rust is different, and the rust on one object can be a whole universe of color as compared to the rust on another object.
Let’s start with the color “rust” I think this is a pretty good approximation of what adults mean when they say that something is “rust” colored:
Now, lets put on some kid thinking and look at these pictures of rust and open our minds to the truth of color:
For homework, I want you all to reconsider the color “Forest Green”. (Happy Seeing!)
