I can already tell, this pottery bowl is going to be special!
As I said in my previous post, when I began creating these pinch-pot art bowls, each bowl I’m making will have unique surface decoration and glazing, every one as unique as snowflakes. Well, even more unique because none of them will be white! Plus, each bowl will be hand numbered and stamped on the bottom with my signature bunny stamp.
The purpose of these one-of-a-kind bowls for me is that I’m using them to test my oxide colors and develop color combinations for my large sculptures. It’s a lot more fun to have bowls to eat out of when the glaze testing is done instead of a whole pile of test tiles 🙂
I’m making them with the pinch pot method because I believe in the connection that occurs when you use a handmade object. You’ll pull this bowl down from the shelf and feel the uneven rim, feel my fingerprints forever recorded in stoneware. Our souls will connect. And then you’ll pour in a nourishing quinoa/raspberry/coconut milk porridge and enjoy this slow, centering, meaningful way to start the day. Perfect.
