Some people are born knowing what they want out of life.
But if you’re like me, then you could use a little help deciding. How many times have you bought an outfit that later you regretted? How many times have you grown bored with a new job just a few months after starting? How many times have you told yourself, “Well, it seemed like a good idea at the time?” Believe me, I’ve been there! But, what can you do about it?
If you haven’t heard of Danielle LaPorte, then you need to look her up.
Danielle developed an amazing technique called desire mapping (which she explains in a seriously life-changing book called the Desire Map.) The basic theory is that if you can uncover what base desires are at your deepest core, then you can use those desires as quide-posts for each and every decision in your life and no matter what interesting paths you walk down, you’ll be heading in the right direction.
My core desires are
- artist (duh!)
- freedom (speaks for itself!)
- nature goddess (authentically connecting with nature and feeling fabulous while doing it.)
- abundant (giving and receiving abundantly, living in abundance.)
- comfortable (as in a comfy temperature, safety through money savings, etc.)
Honestly, I had no idea that being cozy warm was such a trigger for me! Any time I’m cold, I get SO ornery. It’s so much easier for me to think clearly and to be pleasant when wrapped in wool and sitting in front of a roaring fire!
Buy Danielle’s book here and check out her blog to tune in to your real true self and start living the life you’re meant to live! I’ve listened to the Desire Map Audiobook a half dozen times during car trips. It doesn’t get old, there’s always something new to uncover in yourself! What are you waiting for?
The New Year approacheth, go find your greatest desires right now 😀
